Over 300 of the world’s most progressive R&D partners have gathered in Berlin for the WAN-IFRA World Publishing Expo. Live sessions are being conducted on four different media port stages to showcase many of the new products and services. Media executives are presenting the information in case study formats. The LMA delegation is learning a lot.
Yesterday John Paton, CEO, Digital First Media presented on one of the stages during a session about community building. He showcased the Tout product that is being used by journalists throughout DFM.
Currently over 1,800 journalists across 92 markets are using the Tout platform to produce short form videos (usually 45 seconds or less). The time to post is especially short, averaging about 30 seconds. Collectively they are posting 5,000-7,000 videos every day for DFM sites across the country. Since they launched, these videos have produced over 25 million views. Paton sees the revenue potential in excess of $300,000/month. They are just starting to monetize this opportunity.
Local Media Innovation Mission attendees first learned about Tout earlier this year during a full-day visit to the Denver Post. Editors shared the success they were having with the Tout product and noted how easy it was to use.
Digital First Ventures, the investment arm of Digital First Media, has made an investment in Tout. They also recently invested in PaperG and Newscred.
