By Al Cupo, vice president, Local Media Association
Presented by: Barbara Kleban, Managing Broker, Coldwell Banker
Barbara Kleban informed and entertained conference participants with her fast moving and insightful presentation. Barbara covered everything from local agents compensation programs to actionable suggestions that local publications can implement immediately to gain more R.E. business.
First and foremost, Barbara said that all R.E. agents must be ‘Googleable’, meaning they must show-up on search pages as much as possible. She went on to suggest that local newspapers assist agents by developing a real estate agent directory to assist with their SEO program.
Content is also extremely important to the local agents. Many have newsletters and email marketing programs that rely on fresh market information. Sales representative can assist by passing along notable information as published in their newspapers and on their websites. Make the bullets short.
Help each other to develop a robust email database by partnering with brokers and sharing lists.
Work with local agents to develop and maintain a strong and strategic social media program that includes auto feeds to Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, etc.
Many realtors are also blogging about local events and new developments in their area. Provide a place for them to re-post this content with a link back to their website.
Video is huge right now; it provides realtors an opportunity to differentiate themselves and their listings from their competition. It also acts as a lead generation tool. Work with the realtor to produce and post these videos to as many places as possible – including the publication’s website.
Realtors still want and need special print publications in the local market to create interest and drive leads. Meet with the local realtors to discuss various options and build a special print product to suite their needs.
