William Riley Appointed Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. Senior VP

APRIL 27, 2012 — Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. announced Friday that William “B.J.” Riley, publisher of the Terre Haute, Ind., Tribune-Star, has been appointed senior vice president in charge of the company’s Sun Belt Division of Texas newspapers.

Keith Blevins, CNHI’s chief operating officer, said Riley will continue in his publisher’s role in addition to serving as the division manager for the company’s Texas papers.

“B.J. is a richly experienced newspaper person and a proven leader who understands the importance of local news and advertising content for readers and advertisers,” said Blevins. “We are excited to have him in this expanded leadership position.”

A 25-year veteran of the newspaper industry, Riley joined CNHI in 2009 as publisher of the Tribune-Star. He previously served as chief operating officer for Horizon Publications, overseeing 20 daily and 14 weekly newspapers. He has also been the publisher of the Portsmouth, Ohio, Daily Times and the Richmond, Ky., Register, and worked as a corporate advertising consultant to Thomson Newspapers.

Riley, 50 and his wife, Mary, have two sons.
